The correct answer is number one ($20.40), although I would do it differently. Another way is by taking the $28.00 and multiplying by the 80% (0.80 when computed) to get the new price of the bag: 28 * .8 = $22.40. Then you have a $2 coupon, so you simply subtract from the new total: $22.40 - $2.00 = $20.40.

It would be $20.40 because 20% off of $28.00 is $22.4 - $2.00= $20.40

If a water tank already contains 55 gallons of water when baxter begins to fill it and water is flowing in at a rate of 8 gallon
saw5 [17]

Answer:

I think it would be 55+8x. I hope this helps. :)

Step-by-step explanation:

55 gallons of water

8 gallons per minute

It would be 55 gallons (the original amount in the tank) plus 8 gallons per minute. (8x)

x = how many minutes the tank is being filled up more.

so if you were to fill up the tank another 5 minutes, the equation would be 55+8(5)

55+40

95 would be the answer.

1.8+3.5y+0.9+9=16.2<br><br> PLEASE HELP!!
GalinKa [24]

Solution:

1.8 + 3.5y + 0.9 + 9 = 16.2

subtracting 0.9 and 9 from both side

1.8 + 3.5y + 0.9 + 9 - 0.9 - 9 = 16.2 - 0.9 - 9

it will become

1.8 + 3.5y = 6.3

subtracting 1.8 from both side

1.8 + 3.5y - 1.8 = 6.3 -1.8

it will become

3.5y = 4.5

now dividing both side by 3.5

\frac{3.5y}{3.5} =  \frac{4.5}{3.5}

So

y= \frac{4.5}{3.5}

which means

y = 1.28

Hope it helps!

An oval track is made by erecting semicircles on each end of a 44 m by 88 m rectangle. Find the length of the track and the area
Dmitry_Shevchenko [17]

Answer:

The length of the track is 247 m.

The area enclosed by the track is  5391 . 76 sq m.

Step-by-step explanation:

The length of the rectangle  = 88 m

The width of the rectangle  =  44 m

Now, as we know the semicircles are at the end of rectangular track.

So, the diameter of semicircles = Width of the rectangle

⇒ The diameter of the semi circle  = 44 m

⇒Radius of the semi circle  = 44/2 = 22 m

TOTAL LENGTH OF TRACK

= 2 ( Length of rectangle)  + 2 (Circumference of 1 semicircle)

= 2 x (88 m)  + 2 (\frac{2\pi r}{2})

= 176 m + 2 (3.14)(22 m)  = 176 + 71.08 =  247 m

Hence, the length of the track is 247 m

TOTAL AREA OF TRACK

= (Area of rectangle)  + 2 (Area of 1 semicircle)

= (Length x Width)  +    2 (\frac{\pi r^2}{2})

=  (44  m x 88 m) +  (3.14)(22 m)(22 m)   = (3872  + 1519.76) sq m

=  5391 . 76 sq m

Hence, the area enclosed by the track is  5391 . 76 sq m.
