A common theme in biology is that energy flows through biological systems while matter IS RECYCLED. Energy and matter are not destroyed in the ecosystem. The energy is transformed and the matter is recycled. In a food web, the food is transferred from one organism to another in different forms. this shows that the same molecules and atoms are recycled as the same molecule is used by one organism and then transferred to the second organism.

Energy and matter are both preserved in the ecosystem. The energy changes from form to another while flowing through the ecosystem whereas, the assembling moves in a cyclic form.

Further Explanation:

An ecosystem is defined as a community where both living and non-living components of the environment interact with each other and among themselves. Due to the presence of its components, there is the existence of energy and matter in the ecosystem.

The energy and matter are neither created nor destroyed in the ecosystem. They rather travel within the ecosystem and are conserved.

The matter present in the ecosystem never exits it, although it may change its form. Therefore, the matter is cycled within the ecosystem. The matter can also travel from one ecosystem to another when the nutrients are passed into the river or any other water body. The same nutrient or molecules can be used again and again while assembling into different forms. These molecules are then incorporated into different organisms of the ecosystem.

For example, the plants take up carbon dioxide from the environment and nutrients from the soil to form important biomolecules. When animals feed on plants, they use these biomolecules as energy sources and also rearrange these molecules into new forms for their utilization. The animals then perform cellular respiration and liberate carbon dioxide into the atmosphere which is utilized by the plants. Likewise, the waste excreted out by the animals and utilized. These decomposers use the energy stored in the chemical compounds of the waste materials and construct their building blocks. They also release some molecule back into the atmosphere and soil from where the molecules can again be taken up and cycled in the ecosystem.

On the contrary, the energy in the ecosystem cannot be recycled like matter. It rather flows within the ecosystem in a particular direction with the conversion of light into heat. The energy enters the ecosystem initially as sunlight which is captured by the plants in the chemical form through photosynthesis. This trapped energy then moves through the ecosystem, converting from form to another as it an down the food chain. When an organism captures energy, some of the energy is utilized by the organism for its source survival to produce more energy while some part of the energy a as heat. This released heat is also considered as energy and therefore, no energy is ever lost or destroyed. Eventually, energy taken up as light is released in the form of heat which moves back into space.

This means every ecosystem requires continuous availability of matter and energy. While matter can be recycled, the energy flows unidirectionally and finally dissipated as heat.

Science rejects any hypothesis not supported by __________________________ and the results of ___________________________ experi
Ket [755]

Answer:

Observations; control.

Explanation:

A hypothesis is considered to be tentative or an educated guess and can be defined as a testable explanation for an observation or a scientific problem. An example of a hypothesis is saying, Corona virus is caused by the introduction of the "5G" technology.

On the other hand, a control experiment can be defined as an experiment in which a condition assumed to be a probable cause of the effect is being compared to the same situation by the scientist without involving or using the suspected condition.

Hence, science rejects any hypothesis not supported by observations and the results of control experiments.

This ultimately implies that, for any hypothesis to be acceptable in science, it must be supported by observations and the results of control experiments; this give rise to factual informations, theories and by extension solutions to problems.

Finger [1]

Answer: Human classification levels for order, suborder, family, tribe, genus and species are;

Primates, Primates, Haplorhini, Hominidae, Hominini, Homo, and sapiens , Hominidae, Hominini, Homo, and sapiens

Explanation:

Human taxonomy is the systematic classification of humans.

The order is primates include placenta animals including humans, that have good eyesight, flexible hands and feet, well developed brain and they include man, lemurs, apes e.t.c.

Suborder Haplorhini have a plate which cause a separation between the temporal fossa and eye socket.

Family Hominidae include group of animals that have well developed forearms and flattened digits nails.

Humans are called homo sapiens which means wise man. It is a Latin word...

Homo means man and sapiens means wise.

why are individuals with an extra chromosome 21, down syndrome, more numerous than individuals with an extra chromosome 3?
givi [52]

Extra copies of the other chromosomes are probably fatal to the developing embryo that's why individuals with extra chromosome 21 are more numerous than extra chromosomes 3 or 16.

The term "aneuploidy" in genetics refers to the alteration in chromosomal number 23, which can result in hereditary disorders. An individual is said to be aneuploid if they have fewer chromosomes than the wild or euploid type due to an additional or missing chromosome, which is invariably linked to a lack of either physical or mental development or both. This happens during errors in meiosis, the type of cell division that takes place during the development of gametes, which are sex cells that give rise to zygotes during fertilization.

Non-disjunction is a failure of the meiotic process, in which two chromatids or chromosomes pair up and one pole receives nothing. When homologous chromosomes fail to split properly during meiosis I, two defective cells are produced as a result: one has an extra chromosome and the other lacks a chromosome. The chromatids in the chromosomes separate during meiosis II, which may also result in the formation of abnormal cells.

The trisomy on chromosome 21 is more prevalent because the condition is not fatal. Trisomy on a different pair of chromosomes, however, can often be fatal. Having an extra chromosome impacts the way a newborn develops both physically and intellectually. The newborn and future adult may face a variety of mental and physical difficulties as a result of these changes. This is because the DNA in those chromosomes changes how much protein is made and is encoded by them.

The complete question is:

Why are individuals with an extra chromosome 21, which causes Down syndrome, more numerous than individuals with an extra chromosome 3 or chromosome 16?

(A). There are probably more genes on chromosome 21 than on the others.

(B). Chromosome 21 is a sex chromosome, and 3 and 16 are not.

(C). Down syndrome is not more common, just more serious.

(D). Extra copies of the other chromosomes are probably fatal to the developing embryo.

(E). The nondisjunction of chromosomes 3 and 16 probably occurs much less frequently.

Make a list of the things that make a hurricane different from a regular thunderstorm.
Katarina [22]

Answer:

The biggest difference is that hurricanes need a warm moist water to keep on going and never forms over land, while thunderstorms can form over land or water. Tornadoes are also associated with cumulonimbus clouds.

Explanation:

A hurricane is a swirling, low-pressure system that develops over the tropics with sustained winds that have reached at least 74 miles per hour.

Warm, moist air near the ocean's surface rises upward, cools, and condenses, forming clouds. With less air than before at the surface, the pressure drops there. Because air tends to move from high to low pressure, moist air from surrounding areas flows inward toward the low-pressure spot, creating winds. This air is warmed by the ocean's heat and the heat released from condensation, so it rises. This starts a process of warm air rising and forming clouds and surrounding air swirling in to take its place. Before long, you have a system of clouds and winds that begins to rotate as a result of the Coriolis effect, a type of force that causes rotational or cyclonic weather systems.

Hurricanes are the most dangerous when there is a big storm surge, which is a wave of seawater that floods communities. Some surges can reach depths of 20 feet and sweep away homes, cars, and even people.

A thunderstorm is produced by a cumulonimbus cloud, or thunderhead, that includes rain showers, lightning, and thunder.

They start when the sun heats the earth's surface and warms the layer of air above it. This warmed air rises and transfers heat to the upper levels of the atmosphere. As the air travels upward, it cools and the water vapor contained within it condenses to form liquid cloud droplets. As air continually travels aloft in this way, the cloud grows upward in the atmosphere, eventually reaching altitudes where the temperature is below freezing. Some of the cloud droplets freeze into ice particles, while others remain "supercooled." When these collide, they pick up electric charges from one another; when enough of those collisions happen, the big buildup of charge discharges, creating lightning.

Thunderstorms are most hazardous when rain decreases visibility, hail falls, lightning strikes or tornadoes develop.
