Sand Castle Manufacturing produces concrete yard art. 2,600 concrete seahorses were produced in a recent production run. The run

required 1,300 machine hours, and also required 6 "set-ups" of mixing equipment. Final inspection required 60 hours of inspection activity. Estimated overhead is estimated at $40 per machine hour, plus $2,800 per "set-up" and $30 per inspection hour. Direct materials and direct labor total $80 per seahorse.

Answer:

D) $107.15

Explanation:

The amount of overhead to be assigned to concrete seahorse can be determined by multiplying the activity overheard rate by the amount of cost drivers consumed by the sea horse.

This will be done as follow:

Machine cost = 1300× 40 =52000

Set -up cost = 6 × 2800 =16800

Inspection cost = 60×30 =1800

Total overheard = 52000+16800+1800= 70600

Overhead cost per seahorse = 70,600/ 2600= 27.153

The total cost per seahorse = Direct material and labour cost + overhead

= $80 + $27.15=$107.15

Amount assigned to a seahorse=$107.15

Your pharmaceutical firm is seeking to open up new international markets by partnering with various local distributors. The diff
Afina-wow [57]

Answer:

Case 1 = $420 million

Case 2 = $280 million

Case 3 = $350 million

Explanation:

As per the data given in the question,

Annual value by one distributor = $420 million per year

Annual value by two distributor = $560 million per year

Case 1)

The marginal value of first distributor is more than second

So when negotiating the value, it is = $560 million - $420 million = $140 million

and this value would be distribute between both. so each will get = $140 million / 2 = $70 million

and you would expect to capture $420 million of this deal

Case 2)

As distributors are run by government, so negotiation will be done with both the distributor at same time and margin would be $560 million and you would be grabbed = $560 million ÷ 2 = $280 million

Case 3)

In this case marginal amount of contact = $560 million - $140 million = $420 million

and half of it = $420 million ÷ 2 = $ 210 million, which is the amount to be offered

and you would expect to grab the remaining amount = $560 million - $210 million

= $350 million

According to economists, an efficient tax is one that A. maximizes tax revenue for government. B. is relatively easy to collect
k0ka [10]

Answer:

The correct answer is D. imposes a small deadweight loss relative to the tax revenue it raises.

Explanation:

By not discouraging the activity, it is understood that taxes should not distort the economic decisions of the individuals subject to taxation. In the theory of Public Finance the inefficiency of taxation can be analyzed through the so-called "excess tax", as a quantification of the loss of utility generated by a distorting tax. The excess of tax arises because the loss of total welfare generated by the tax on the individual with the modification in their behavior, is greater than the mere loss of welfare caused by the decrease in disposable income that comes with the payment of the tax. The value of excess tax that is generated by the substitution effect is greater the higher the tax rate and elasticity (Musgrave, 1986). Therefore, the relationship of exchange between efficiency and equity is not so simple for governments when designing their fiscal policy.

Managers use a predetermined overhead rate for which of the following reasons?
Rashid [163]

Answer:

Option A and B

Explanation:

The company desires to estimate the cost of the job so that it can minimize it by emphasizing control. This is one of the major reasons why the companies estimate cost of the job, product or service. So option A is correct.

Option B is also correct because the companies have to form contracts with its customers and for that reason predetermined overhead rates helps a lot estimating the price of the product which the company and customer can agree upon.

Option C is incorrect because predetermined costs are estimates and estimates are not always accurate.

Option D is false because daily recording of overheads requires predetermined overhead rates which is adjusted at the month end or quarter end or year end. So its not useless at all.
