Daisy Miller symbolizes the country of America as well as the freshness and youth (Options A and B)

"Daisy Miller" is a novel written by Henry James and first published in 1879. In Henry James's  novel “Daisy Miller”, Daisy who is a wealthy young American girl symbolizes the American women of those times who travelled abroad eager to know the European culture and expose themselves to the Old World. Daisy represents the typical American girl due to her youth, freshness, sweetness, innocence, but at the same time, she shows herself rebellious as well as ignorant. What is more, she does not care about what others think of her since she is unaware of social conventions and criticism.

A. The speaker is saying that she and her peers should be allowed to handle the punishments for people like Hester Prynne. She thinks this because they would band together as a group and be all on the same page in their punishment, rather than leaving it up to the magistrate--whose punishment she does not think adequately fit the crime Hester committed.
