To discard and control, if possible, stop the high number of Black people being imprisoned in America and to try and end the unfair sentencing in America if possible.

Explanation:

His purpose in this book of fighting for justice, rights and quality for Blacks in America, where many ( more than countless 60%) number of Blacks have lost their right to vote and rights for their children.

The reason of imprisonment, unfair sentencing of Black women, raids and police investigation on mothers is what makes the children to not attend school and follow other means to engage themselves for food and livelihood is what Stevenson talks about.

His concept of how proximity is what we all, in America, must develop deals with the entire purpose of his ideology of elimination of incarceration and unfair means in punishing the Blacks of America.
