If you're searching Google for information, you can use the - sign before a word to remove all articles with that word in it. If you want only one site, like New York Times, you can use site:nytimes.com to look only for NY Times articles. There are more on the Google Help Page (https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/2466433?hl=en)
