To Germany, it appeared that Britain would fall sooner or later. However, the Battle of Britain witnessed the successful defense by the Royal Air Force that protected the island against the continuous and destructive bombings and a raid by the corresponding German Luftwaffe. Earlier Poland and France had quickly fallen with the Blitzkrieg tactics.

The unsuccess in destroying the Royal Army prevented the invasion by German ground forces into English territories. The military command wanted to lay siege to Britain in order to wear it down. Since England remained strong and was unwilling to give up, it became the crucial point for Hitler's turning to the East front that previously had been avoided to prevent additional fronts to be targeted. Germany's unsuccessful attack probed that England would challenge the supremacy on air.

List three motives of imperialists in the late 1800s.
kompoz [17]

1.) Economic - motives included the desire to make money, to expand and control foreign trade, to create new markets for products, to acquire raw materials and cheap labor, to compete for investments and resources, and to export industrial technology and transportation methods.

2.) Political- motives were based on a nation's desire to gain power, to compete with other European countries, to expand territory, to exercise military force, to gain prestige by winning colonies, and to boost national pride and security.

3.) Religious- motives included the desire to spread Christianity, to protect European missionaries in other lands, to spread European values and moral beliefs, to educate peoples of other cultures, and to end slave trade in Africa.

I need information on the increase of crime during the industrial revolution
Alisiya [41]

A huge increase in the population combined with the industrial revolution led to a huge increase in crime. People migrated from rural areas to cities, there was a surplus of labor. The rise in crime was surprising for the authorities and it was difficult to control it, because ordinary people who were happy before were involved in crime. They were poor, unqualified people; for some, crime was an easy way to get to the money, and for other survival methods. Even children were engaged by adults, because it was easy to manipulate them, and they were paid less. As an emergence of crime, there is a drunkenness, which again contributes to a further increase in crime. People were unhappy because they did not have a job, they could not survive, they had solace in alcohol, become addicted, and then necessarily, began to steal to meet their needs, both basic and alcohol needs.
