Remark

I think you need to to define a couple of words before answering the question. The reason will be given after the definitions.

Definitions

A salver: A salver is a small silver try mostly flat that carries drinks, or small announcement cards or unopened letters.

The other word you need to know is the Chantant which I used Google to look up. It is a small outdoor cafe, very intimate with a small staff and a small number of guests.

Neither of these definitions are meaningful without some explanation, but they had to be noted.

Reason

The reason I looked them up was I wanted to be taken away from the comparison with a church. That's something you could use in an essay and very effectively, but not here.

Choice

Having said all of that, I believe your choice is a good one. The answer is the last sentence. There are a number of reasons I would pick it.

1. They are counting coins. There couldn't be too many if they fit on a salver.

2. There were only 2 men doing the counting. Where was the rest of the money? Surely the Cafe Chantant brought in more than a few coins. These men much have doing something else. It made money, but not much.

3. The salver itself suggests wealth. Only the very rich used them. They were quite popular in the 1750s.

16. What are the three steps in the king's and Laertes plot to kill Hamlet?
Oliga [24]

Answer:OK. It's the fencing match. And I think it's actually a two-point plan.

Explanation:

First of all, Laertes once to cut Hamlet's throat in the church, but Claudius persuades him there's a better way. To somehow rig the fencing match so that Hamlet ends up dead. Laertes agrees:

I will do't!

And for that purpose I'll anoint my sword.

I bought an unction of a mountebank,

So mortal that but dip a knife in it,

Where it draws blood no cataplasm so rare,

Collected from all simples that have virtue

Under the moon, can save the thing from death

This is but scratch'd withal. I'll touch my point

With this contagion, that, if I gall him slightly,

It may be death.

So, the poison on the rapier will kill Hamlet. But Claudius organises a back up plan:

Therefore this project

Should have a back or second, that might hold

If this did blast in proof. Soft! let me see.

We'll make a solemn wager on your cunnings—

I ha't!

When in your motion you are hot and dry—

As make your bouts more violent to that end—

And that he calls for drink, I'll have prepared him

A chalice for the nonce; whereon but sipping,

If he by chance escape your venom'd stuck,

Our purpose may hold there.

Claudius will put poison into a chalice, and offer it to Hamlet as a toast, if the rapier plan fails to work. So it's a two-point plan for killing him off.

Hope it helps!

Digestion physically breaking down food, this is done by your______ . _____digestion is the breakdown of molecules of food, this
Leya [2.2K]

Answer:

Blank 1: Mechanical

Blank 2: teeth

Blank 3: Chemical

Blank 4: saliva

Explanation:

The above are correct.

Mechanical digestion refers to the physical break down of food particles by the teeth. This process involves grinding, breaking, masticating and tearing of food substances with the teeth. This is done in order to make the food substances smaller for chemical digestion.

The chemical digestion further breaks the smaller food particles into absorbable particles. This is carried out by some enzymes found in the saliva. These enzymes are secreted in the digestive tract and it then breaks the chemical bond holding food particles together.

Therefore, mechanical digestion is done by the teeth while chemical digestion is done by the saliva.
