At first, only rich white men could vote. During Jackson's time, the common white man was giving the right to vote. During Reconstruction (the period after the Civil War) voting could no longer be denied on race or color because of the 15th Amendment, but this still only applied to men. Women got the right to vote with the 19th Amendment in 1920.
The lines in this excerpt from "The Lady of Shalott" by Alfred, Lord Tennyson that describe actions taken by the Lady of Shallot to defy the curse are:
With a steady stony glance—
Like some bold seer in a trance,
Beholding all his own mischance,
Mute, with a glassy countenance—
She look'd down to Camelot.
It was the closing of the day:
She loos'd the chain, and down she lay;
The broad stream bore her far away,
Can you give me the author and name of the book ?
Answer:
Robbery
At a local thrift store a young man tried to steal a dress worth 60 dollars. The male entered the store around noon and he started to look around. There weren’t many staff members in the store, so when he saw that nobody was there he took the dress, put it in his bag and began to leave the store, but a staff member noticed what he did. She closed the doors before the criminal could leave and called the police. The young man tried to escape but he couldn’t break the doors. Once the police arrived he was arrested and later on charged guilty for robbery.
