Answer:

Britain maintained a middle ground during the Paris Peace Conference but ended supporting strict French positions against Germany.

Explanation:

The Paris Peace Conference was held during the year 1919. In this conference the major players were:

 1. Woodrow Wilson represented the United States
 2. George Clemenceau represented France
 3. David Lloyd George represented the United Kingdom.

During the time of it there were two contrasting views between the US and France, one with a truly idealistic plan of creating a League of Nations to prevent a new war and another seeking revenge for the atrocities of it respectively. On the other hand, Great Britain (UK) through David Lloyd George ensured a middle ground between the opposing views, he wanted to ensure punishments for Germany but at the same time believed that it should be left strong enough to maintain trading and ensure the British naval predominance. In the end he was further pressured to support France’s strict view that:

 • Held Germany fully responsible for the War.
 • Forced it to pay reparations.
 • Make them give some of their territory away.
 • Disarmament of Germany.
 • The creation of the League of Nations though the United States never joined.

All of which are found in the Treaty of Versailles. The same that Germany was forced to signed on June 28, 1919 and is considered one of the major reasons of World War II.

In the original location of the Notre Dame Cathedral, other groups of people would often use the area for various religious purp
natka813 [3]

The three groups who used the site for religious purposes were:

 • the Gauls
 • the Romans
 • the Christians

Before the Notre Dame Cathedral was built at the order of the Bishop of Paris, Maurice de Sully, there were other structures on the site belonging to other groups of people which were:

 • Gauls - Gauls used to live in France during Roman times and they built a temple to Jupitar after they were conquered by the Romans.

 • Romans - Romans worshipped Jupitar and so would come to the temple built by the Gauls to worship. As many Gauls received Roman citizenship, they were called Romans as well.

 • Christians - before the Notre Dame was built, there was a church on the site called, the Cathedral of Saint Étienne. It was smaller than the Notre Dame Cathedral but used by Christians to worship.

In conclusion, the Notre Dame Cathedral is a huge symbol in France and represents a wonderful feat of architecture. It was however built on land that had other purposes before it.
