Why do scientist believe that the earliest life forms most likely lived in the oceans

I believe because at one point the whole world was covered by water then pangea came along and then evolution from bacteria but i dont fully know this is my strongest guess hope this helps

Because the Earth is 71% covered by bodies of water there’s a lot more species and life. Most of which we don’t know about.
