Well there are 6 types of factoring:
- Greatest Common Factor
- Grouping
- Difference in Two Squares
- Sum or Difference in Two Cubes
- Trinomials
- General Trinomials
The most common is GCF (Greatest Common Factor)
Steps:
- Write the prime factors for each number
- Underline or circle each common prime factor. (Every prime factor that is of a factor is for every number in the set).
- Then Multiplied all the underlined or circled numbers.
- That results the GCF
