X+y=6 is..... 
solve for x=0... y=6 
solve for y=0... x=6 
intersect x-axis at (6,0)... calculate the slop: solve for x=1... 1+y=6... 6-1= 5 y=5
calculate the slope: a= y(x=1)-y(x=0)/1=-1 
x+y=6
