The benefits of communal living is that it helps you to be more compassionate and understanding to people around you. it also divides up common chores so you don’t have as much to do. i imagine the price of living is also less. some disadvantages are that you wouldn’t have as much privacy and you may not get along with those you live with all the time.
I think means person or thing that comes before another of the same kind a forerunner Not sure though.
