Hey! It would be a great help if someone could help me with questions 6-9. I've put what i believe to be an appropriate amount o
OLEGan [10]
Number 6 is B because each input or x value has one output or y value
Number 7 is C because that’s not even an equation
Number 8 is D because each input or x value has one output or y value
Number 10 is A because if you graph it all of the points would be on a line increasing proportionally
(Hopefully this made sense I tried my best)

A line passes through the points (-3, 14) and (-1, 16). What is its equation in slope-intercept form?
timurjin [86]

Answer:

y = 6x + 22

General Formulas and Concepts:

<u>Pre-Alg</u>

  • Order of Operations: BPEMDAS

<u>Algebra I</u>

Slope Formula: m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

Slope-Intercept Form: y = mx + b

  • m - slope
  • b - y-intercept

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Step 1: Define</u>

Point (-3, 14)

Point (-1, 16)

<u>Step 2: Find slope </u><em><u>m</u></em>

  1. Substitute:                    m=\frac{16-14}{-1+3}
  2. Subtract/Add:               m=\frac{12}{2}
  3. Divide:                           m=6

<u>Step 3: Find y-intercept </u><em><u>b</u></em>

  1. Define:                    y = 6x + b
  2. Substitute:              16 = 6(-1) + b
  3. Multiply:                  16 = -6 + b
  4. Isolate <em>b</em>:                 22 = b
  5. Rewrite:                   b = 22

<u>Step 4: Write linear equation</u>

y = 6x + 22

if f(x) and g(x) are a quadratic function but (f + g)(x) produce the graph below, which statement must be true
ArbitrLikvidat [17]
The leading coefficients are opposites.

For instance
f(x) = 2x^2 + 5x + 6
g(x) = -2x^2 + 8x - 3
here the leading coefficients 2 and -2 are opposites

Adding function f(x) and g(x) gets us
f(x) + g(x) = (2x^2+5x+6) + (-2x^2+8x-3)
f(x) + g(x) = (2x^2-2x^2) + (5x+8x) + (6-3)
f(x) + g(x) = 0x^2 + 13x + 3
f(x) + g(x) = 13x + 3

The two quadratics add up to a linear equation
