In the prologue of "The Canterbury Tales" the prioress was described as someone who is trying to portray somebody else or to project a certain image of what a prioress should be.

The prioress is trying very hard to be dainty and act in a certain manner as a nun but her behavior shows her to be the opposite of dainty. In fact, it would seem that she is a large woman and a vain one at that. Instead of having rosary beads with the crucifix at the end, she wears vanity beads that has a pendant that most likely symbolizes her love for material things.

Here is "that" being used as an adjective:

I want that ice cream!

"That" is describing which "ice cream" you want, therefore it is describing the ice cream.

Here is an example of "that" being used as a pronoun:

"That" replaces the noun. Usually this would be used when what "that" is was already mentioned prior to this sentence

Without space programs, we wouldn’t have GPS, accurate weather prediction, solar cells, or the ultraviolet filters in sunglasses and cameras.

2. Humanity's Purpose

Human space exploration helps to address fundamental questions about our place in the Universe and the history of our solar system.

3. Long-term Survival

It is only a matter of time before something happens to our planet that is so devastating that it changes the course of life as we know it. Whether the disaster is natural it is possible that our home will no longer be habitable. What happens, then, to all of the accomplishments of the last thousand generations of humans? All of our art, our music, our literature, our science, even our very genes could be wiped out. Unless, of course, there are a few humans living elsewhere in the solar system. Space exploration and colonization of the Moon and Mars are an insurance policy for humanity and all of our achievements.
