From the word itself "metaphor", this means that there is a comparison between two very unlike things. But when it is extended, this means that it continues all throughout the paragraph or sentences. In the case of the phrase above, the extended metaphor that is being described in the poem is this: eating in the kitchen is compared to racial segregation in America. Read the poem below and answer the question that follows. Miniscule droplets beaded up on the window. Remnants of the storm. Thi
AVprozaik [17]

Answer:

The Answer is Imagery.

Imagery in the poem is used here to express ideas about nature.

Explanation:

Imagery is one of several literary devices available to writers and poets.

When an author sits to write a story, he or she doesn't simply write what happened. Instead, He or she uses what are called literary devices which are narrative techniques that add texture, energy, and excitement to the narrative, grip the reader's imagination, and convey information.

There are hundreds of literary devices at the disposal of a writer. Some of them besides Imagery are:

 • Simile
 • Metaphor
 • Symbolism
 • Flashbacks
 • Foreshadowing
 • Motif
 • Allegory

In the poem above, the phrase "beaded up on the window" gives a vivid image of the after effects of the storm. It also tell us from what perspective the writer observed the storm.
