A compare and contrast is a way to look at two separate items and organize their similarities and differences.

Here's an example:

Dog's Versus Cats

Dogs:
- bark
- growl
- use the bathroom outside
- beg for food

Cats:
- meow
- hiss
- use a litter box
- find food for themselves

Both:
- have tails
- play with toys
- enjoy human affection
- have fur
