George Washington was a leader of the Continental Army.

Explanation:

  • George Washington was one of Virginia's delegates to the Continental Congress.
  • The Congress was made up of a group of representatives from each of the colonies who decided to fight the British together.
  • In May 1775, George Washington was appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army.
  • George Washington had no easy task. He had an army made up of farmers who were supposed to fight trained British soldiers.
