The dust storms that swept the great plains were a result of farmers planting the same crop year after year. Along with this, the dust storms were also caused by soil erosion.

These dust storms, also known as the era of the Dust Bowl, negatively impacted American society during the 1930's. Thousands of families in the great plains region were affected, resulting in many families moving away from this area or losing significant money trying to salvage what little resources they possessed.
