Answer:

<u>Description </u>

Explanation:

Using context clues while reading is a technique that consists of looking at the surrounding information of an unknown word in order to infer the meaning of that word. There are many types of context clues, and the one that can be used to determine the meaning of <em>eluded</em> in the sentence is description: Geena escaped, and she eluded zookeepers for several hours until she was captured. So, by paying attention to the description of the actions, we can infer that <em>to elude</em> means to run away, to evade or to escape from someone or something that is going after you.

In Book 9 of the Odyssey, Ulysses saves himself and his men by blinding Polyphemus. Which lines reflect the Cyclops's disappoint
Yuki888 [10]

Answer:

<em>"Long since he menaced, such was Fate's command;</em>

<em>And named Ulysses as the destined hand.</em>

<em>I deem'd some godlike giant to behold,</em>

<em>Or lofty hero, haughty, brave, and bold;</em>

<em>Not this weak pigmy wretch, of mean design,</em>

<em>Who, not by strength subdued me, but by wine."</em>

In these lines, the Cyclops states that Fate had long commanded Ulysses to be the hand destined to defeat him. However, he was expecting this hero to be some enormous giant, or a brave and bold hero. Instead, he is disappointed to learn that Ulysses is a tiny being who defeated him not through strength, but by wit.

How are the words Montag sees as he helps burn the library at 11 N. Elm significant for understanding Fahrenheit 451?
Leona [35]

The event at 11N. Elm was significant for Montag. Here he meets Mrts. Blake, the owner of the house filled with books that they have to burn. She is adamant not to leave her house and books. Before she gets burned with her books, the woman said the quote "Play the man, Master Ridley; we shall this day light such a candle, by God's grace, in England, as I trust shall never be put out." This line is very significant because the woman wants to imply that may her death serve as the spark that will light up a revolution against the government and their stamping out of free thinking. She wants to serve as an example on why she is willing to sacrifice her life for her beliefs. It is significant in understanding fahrenheit 451 because it is the turning point for the protagonist Montag to finally go with his principles and go against the government.
