Why was Egypt considered isolated and what was the benefit of its isolation
saul85 [17]

Answer:

Egypt was considered isolated because the civilization was only centered along the Nile, and had geographical features that cut it off from the rest of the world.

Explanation:

To the north, the Mediterranean Sea allowed communication with Anatolia and Greece, but only by sea, not by land.

To the west, the Sahara desert was a buffer with several nomadic and semi-nomadic tribes. To the East, the Sinai desert and peninsula made communications harder with Palestine, and Mesopotamia, and to the South, the Desert of Sudan made communications hard with Nubia and Ethiopia.

The benefit was a lower probability of conflict or invasion from other tribes, but it also had a drawback and was lesser trade and integration.

In the early 80s why was there so little settlement on the Great Plains
S_A_V [24]
In the 80’s many people refused to live there because of the weather conditions. It was too hot for the crops to survive, so in turn they would have no food to eat.

How did Henry IV lay the foundations on which French monarchs would rule with absolute power?
gayaneshka [121]

I don't see any answers in the list that are fully correct.

Henry IV did not create the Estates General.  That institution had developed already in medieval France, fell out of use, but then was revived during the latter half of the 16th century, a couple decades before Henry IV came to the throne.

Henry IV did not oppress the French people but sought to build roads and improve agriculture for the betterment of France and to build the loyalty of the people to his rule.

He did overthrow the previous ruler (Henry III), but not in "totalitarian fashion."  After winning the "War of the Three Henrys" in order to become king, Henry sought to bring France to peace after religious warfare.  He had been Protestant but converted to Catholicism for the sake of national peace, while at the same time extending legal protections to the Protestant minority.

Under Henry IV's rule, the central government did not control "almost every aspect of life."  He worked hard to consolidate and centralize power for his government, but he was not yet what we would call an "absolute" ruler.
