Answer:

y < 4x - 2 is the inequality.

Step-by-step explanation:

In this question we will find the equation of the given line first.

This line passes through two points (0.5, 0) and (0, -2).

So the slope of this line will be = \frac{y-y'}{x-x'}

slope = \frac{0+2}{0.5-0}

         = \frac{2}{0.5}=4

Y-intercept of the given dotted line is (-2)

Equation of the line will be y = 4x - 2

Now this line is in the dotted form so there is no equality, means it's a pure inequality.

So inequality may be y < 4x - 2 or y > 4x - 2

Now we will check the shaded area is for y < 4x - 2 or y > 4x - 2

Since gray area is on the right side of the inequality so we will take a point (2, 0) to check the inequality drawn on the graph.

0 < 4.(2) - 2

0 < 8 - 2

0 < 6 which is true.

For second inequality y > 4x - 2

0 > 4.(2) - 2

0 > 8 -2

0 > 6 which is not true.

Therefore, inequality representing the shaded area is y < 4x - 2

find it like a regular equation. find your slope and y intercept.

y ---- 4x - 2

since the shaded area is on the right and the coefficient is positive it most likely is less than. since the line is dashed it does not include the number (sign will be < or > without the or equal to)

so let's try it

y < 4x - 2

0 < - 2?

no

so shade on opposite side of the line

the answer is correct.

Simplify:

−3=12y−5(2y−7)

−3=12y+(−5)(2y)+(−5)(−7)(Distribute)

−3=12y+−10y+35

−3=(12y+−10y)+(35)(Combine Like Terms)

−3=2y+35

Flip the equation.

2y+35=−3

Subtract 35 from both sides.

2y+35−35=−3−35

2y=−38

Divide both sides by 2.

2y/2=−38/2

At a sale, dresses were sold for $90 each. This price was 75% of a
gulaghasi [49]

Answer:

A dress originally costs $120

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the original cost of the dress, we will follow the steps below;

let x represent the original cost of the dress

75% of x  = $90

\frac{75}{100}  ×    x   = $90

\frac{75X}{100}  =   $90

MULTIPLY both-side of the equation by 100

\frac{75X}{100} × 100 =   $90×100

At the right-hand side of the equation, 100 will cancel out 100, leaving us with just 75x

75x = $9000

DIVIDE both-side of the equation by 75

75x/75 = $9000/75

At the left-hand side of the equation 75 will cancel-out 75 leaving us with just x

x=  $9000/75

x = $120

A dress originally costs $120

The sale price of every item in a store is 85% of its usual price.
Vladimir [108]

Answer

a. The backpack is $4.50

b. The sweatshirt is $2.70

Step-by-step explanation:

a. 30 x 0.15 = 4.50 (The 0.15 is from the price you are actually paying for the item. Because the item is 85% off, you are paying for 15% of the usual price. 15% as a decimal is 0.15 so you multiply that to the original price to find the amount u will pay.)

b. 18 x 0.15 = 2.70

Answer:

x + 2(2x-4) = 10

Step-by-step explanation:

Here in this question, we want to select which is the correct answer if we substitute for the value of y in the second equation, using the first.

In the first, we have;

y = 2x -4

Now, let’s input this value of y into the second equation.

By direct substitution, what we have is the following;

x + 2y = 10

—-> x + 2(2x -4) = 10
