Function 1:
x-intercept: (3,0) → a=3
y-intercept: (0,4) → b=4
Slope: m1=?

m=-b/a
m1=-4/3

Function 2:
Point 1: P1=(0,5)=(x1,y1) → x1=0, y1=5
Point 2: P2=(4,8)=(x2,y2) → x2=4, y2=8
Slope: m2=?

m=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
m2=(8-5)/(4-0)
m2=3/4

Absolute value (m1)=Absolute value(-4/3)=4/3=1.33
Absolute value (m2)=Absolute value(3/4)=3/4=0.75

Absolute value (m1)=1.33 > 0.75=Abslute value (m2)

Answer: Fourth option: Function 1 has a steeper slope of -4/3

Function 1 has a slope of 4/3 and Function 2 has a slope of 3/4. This means that Function 1 would be steeper because it goes four units down and 3 units right while Function 2 would be steeper but fall slower because it goes 3 units down and is stretched out more to the right because it goes 4 units to the right making Function 1's line steeper.

Subtract fractions with different denominators
Tems11 [23]

Answer:

\frac{10}{15}-\frac{2}{5}=\frac{4}{15}

Step-by-step explanation:

We know that

  • A fraction consists of two integers—one on the top, and one on the bottom.
  • The top one is numerator, the bottom one is denominator, and
  • These two numbers are separated by a line.

Let us consider two different fractions with different denominators

  • \frac{10}{15}
  • \frac{2}{5}

Lets subtract the two fractions

\frac{10}{15}-\frac{2}{5}\:\:\:\:

\mathrm{Cancel\:}\frac{10}{15}:\quad \frac{2}{3}

=\frac{2}{3}-\frac{2}{5}

\mathrm{Least\:Common\:Multiplier\:of\:}3,\:5:\quad 15

\mathrm{Adjust\:Fractions\:based\:on\:the\:LCM}

\mathrm{For}\:\frac{2}{3}:\:\mathrm{multiply\:the\:denominator\:and\:numerator\:by\:}\:5

\frac{2}{3}=\frac{2\cdot \:5}{3\cdot \:5}=\frac{10}{15}

\mathrm{For}\:\frac{2}{5}:\:\mathrm{multiply\:the\:denominator\:and\:numerator\:by\:}\:3

\frac{2}{5}=\frac{2\cdot \:3}{5\cdot \:3}=\frac{6}{15}

so

=\frac{10}{15}-\frac{6}{15}

\mathrm{Since\:the\:denominators\:are\:equal,\:combine\:the\:fractions}:\quad \frac{a}{c}\pm \frac{b}{c}=\frac{a\pm \:b}{c}

=\frac{10-6}{15}

\mathrm{Subtract\:the\:numbers:}\:10-6=4

=\frac{4}{15}

Therefore,

\frac{10}{15}-\frac{2}{5}=\frac{4}{15}

How many pounds of cashew nuts worth 75 cents a pound must be mixed with 10 pounds of pecans worth $1.50 a pound to make a mixtu
Trava [24]
Let c represent the weight of cashews and p the weight of pecans.

Then c + 10 = total weight of the nut mixture.

An equation for the value of the mixture follows:

 $1.50(10 lb) + $0.75c = (c+10)($1.00)

Solve this equation for c:  15 + .75c = c + 10.  Subtract .75c from both sides:

15 = 1c - 0.75c + 10.  Then 5=0.25c, and c = 5/0.25, or 20.

Need 20 lb of cashews.

Check:  the pecans weigh 10 lb and are worth $1.50 per lb, so the total value of the pecans is $15.  The total value of the cashews is (20 lb)($0.75/lb), or $15.     Does (20 lb + 10 lb)($1/lb) = $15 + $15?  Yes.  So c= 20 lb is correct.

A hot air balloon descends from an altitude of 2,000 feet at a constant rate of 90 feet per minute. The graph shows the altitude
liberstina [14]

Answer:

y=90x+2,000

Step-by-step explanation:

90 is the rate of change because the hot air balloon descends 90 feet per minute.

And 2,000 is the starting point because the hot air balloon started the descent at 2,000 feet.
