Answer:

The correct answer is A. Martin Luther king jr’s commitment to nonviolent protest resulted in many achievements for African Americans during the civil rights movement.

Explanation:

Martin Luther King, Jr. was an African-American pastor, activist, and prominent leader of the Civil Rights Movement. He is best known as a symbol of the development of civil rights in the United States and around the world, using peaceful methods following Mahatma Gandhi's teachings. King has become a national symbol of the history of modern American liberalism, despite being a socialist at the end of his life.

As a Baptist pastor, King became a civil rights champion early in his career. He led the boycott of Montgomery in 1955 and helped found the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in 1957, serving as its first president. King's efforts led to the march to Washington in 1963 where King delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech. There he expanded American values through the vision of a society that treated people based on the wholeness of one's character and established its reputation as one of the greatest speakers in American history.

In 1964, King became the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for his work to end racial segregation and racial discrimination through civil disobedience and other peaceful means. At the time of his death in 1968, he focused his efforts on ending poverty and ending the Vietnam War.

King was assassinated on April 4, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was awarded the Freedom Medal in 1977 and the Congressional Gold Medal in 2004 posthumously.
