Answer:

Spica cast is used to keep the pelvis and bones of the thigh still so they can get healed. It helps in maintaining the hip joint bones in an appropriate position. It covers the waist, the legs, and the section of abdomen. It is generally applied for a period of six weeks to three months.

The spica casts are generally used for the infants suffering from hip dysplasia, and for young children who have had pelvic or hip surgery. In case of an infant with spica cast, there is a need to elevate the head and shoulders of the child with pillows when he or she is positioned on the bedpan.

This will inhibit urine from getting backward and within the cast. A cloth pad or a gauze or a small folder towel should be put on the back rim of a bedpan, which will assist in absorbing any moisture and keeping the cast dry.

Spica casts or body casts are used to treat children who have hip, pelvis, or leg problems, such as developmental dysplasia of the hips. When elevating the head of an infant in a spica cast the nurse should use pillows to elevate the head and shoulders of the infant. Spica cast is not a surgical procedure but normally used after a surgical procedure for hip dysplasia.

When pieces of soil are eaten and digested by worms they come out with a higher mineral content. These are known as___________.
Mademuasel [1]

Answer:

C.) castings

Explanation:

Worm castings are a biologically active mixture of bacteria, enzymes, plant materials and animal dung leftovers, as well as earthworm cocoons. When worms digest food or other materials, complex nutrients are broken down into more accessible forms than those present in the castings. I hope this helps! ^-^

Can most organisms use "free" nitrogen gas in the atmosphere?
andre [41]
No, because “free” nitrogen is not combined with other kinds of atoms.
Most organisms can use nitrogen only once it has been "fixed" or combined with other elements to form nitrogen-containing compounds.

Answer:

C. when a portion of the moon passes through the earth's umbral shadow.

Explanation:

A partial lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth passes between the sun and moon but the celestial bodies are not arranged in a straight line. When that occurs, a small part of the moon's surface is covered by the darkest, central part of the shadow of the Earth called the umbra. The rest is covered by the outer part of the shadow, termed penumbra.

Explain why HaeIII is unlikely to be used to create recombinant DNA. How does this enzyme differ from the others described in th
creativ13 [48]

Further explanation

Recombinant DNA or rDNA is a form of artificial DNA that is made by combining or combining two or more strands of DNA strands that are normally unpaired or occur together. On the subject of molecular biology, genetic modification is carried out by inserting relevant DNA into the DNA of living organisms, for example in bacterial plasmids, to encode a particular characteristic such as antibiotics and other traits. This is different from the concept of recombinant DNA in which the combination of DNA does not occur naturally in cells but is engineered. DNA recombination process that is commonly done is by combining DNA strands from two different organisms. The joining of two DNAs from different organisms, for example in a bacterial plasmid, is assisted by the enzyme ligase. Recombinant DNA technology through DNA cutting techniques is one time reinforcing evidence that shows that DNA is a unit of inheritance.

The discovery of recombinant DNA technology has made genetic engineering analysis and development increasingly developed, especially in fields that have long practiced genetic modeling and analysis such as medicine, agriculture, and industry. Gene transfer between organisms today can be carried out even between organisms that were biologically formerly unable to join. The gene transfer process that conventionally uses sexual reproduction ie crossing can be avoided, for example in the production of "Bt" maize, one of which is composed of bacterial genes that are transferred to corn plants to make corn resistant to borer pests in Europe. Molecular markers are available to make the selection process more effective and efficient.

In the world of health, the first commercial product produced with recombinant DNA technology is insulin. This insulin research and project began before government regulations and policies regarding the widespread and commercial use of recombinant DNA were made. As basic research on recombinant DNA technology continues to seek efficiency and benefits for humanity, the commercial use of products produced from this technology is controlled by market behavior and investment capital provided.
