Multiply one of them by -1 so one of the -2y is positive
-1(-7x-2y=-13)=7x+2y=13
Then add the two equations
 7x+2y=13
+ x-2y=11
========
8x=24 - the 2y and -2y cancel out. Now solve for x
x=3 Now plug the x back into one of the equations

3-2y=11 Now solve for y
-2y=11-3
-2y=8
y=-4

So x=3 and y=-4

Hope this helps!

X - 2y = 11
x = 11 + 2y

Now, substitute the value of x in first equation,
-7x - 2y = -13
-7(11 + 2y) - 2y = -13
-77 - 14y - 2y = -13
-16y = -13 + 77
y = -64/16
y = -4

Now, substitute the value of y in 2nd equation,
x - 2y = 11
x - 2(-4) = 11
x + 8 = 11
x = 11 - 8
x = 3

In short, Your Answer would be: (3, -4)

Hope this helps!

The cost of each turkey, if each is a smudge that represents some unreadable digit is $0.94

Cost of each turkey

 • Total number of turkey bought = 72
 • Total cost = $67.9

Cost of each turkey = Total cost / Total number of turkey bought

= 67.9 / 72

= 0.943055555555555

Approximately,

Cost of each turkey = $0.94

Therefore, the cost of each turkey, if each is a smudge that represents some unreadable digit is $0.94

One number is 4 times a first number. A third number is 100 more than the first number. If the sum of the three numbers is 256 f
Lady bird [3.3K]

Answer: one number is 104, the first number is 26 and the third number is 126

How to:

Let’s say the “first number” is Y, the “second number” is X, and the “third number” is Z. This makes Y=4x and Z=x+100. Then put it into an equation to find the sum: X+4x+x+100=256. Take away 100 from both sides of the equation and combine the like terms (the X’s). That leaves 6x=156. Then divide both sides by 6 to get x alone which is x=26. That is the first number. To find Y just multiply X by 4 and that’s Y=104. And lastly add 100 to x which is Z=126.
