The graph below shows the velocity f(t) of a runner during a certain time interval: graph of line segment going through ordered

pairs 0, 2 and 6, 8. Graph of another line segment going through ordered pairs 6, 8 and 8, 0. Label on the x axis is time in seconds and label on the y axis is velocity in meters per second Which of the following describes the intercepts on the graph? The initial velocity of the runner was 8 m/s, and the runner stopped after 2 seconds. The initial velocity of the runner was 2 m/s, and the runner stopped after 8 seconds. The initial acceleration of the runner was 8 m/s2, and the runner stopped after 2 seconds. The initial acceleration of the runner was 2 m/s2, and the runner stopped after 8 seconds.

Hi! Answer is "the initial velocity of the runner was 4 m/s, and the runner stopped after 8 seconds".

This is a velocity - time graph.

At t = 0 s, the graph has a velocity as 4 m/s. This means, the runner has an initial velocity as 4 m/s.

At t = 4 s, the runner has reached his maximum velocity as 8 m/s and acceleration is 1 m/s².

After t = 4 s, the velocity has decreased with the time means it is a negative acceleration.

At t = 8 s, the velocity of the runner has reached to zero means runner has stopped after 8 seconds.

Answer:

1

Step-by-step explanation:

a+b divide c -> \frac{a+b}{c}

Plugging in - > \frac{2+-3}{-1}

Simplifying: \frac{2-3}{-1}

Subtracting: \frac{-1}{-1}

Simplifying: 1

Answer:

A_{total} = 25\ ft^2

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Step 1:  Determine the area of the square</u>

A = s^2

A = (3\ ft)^2

A = 9\ ft^2

<u>Step 2:  Split the top figure into a square and triangle</u>

Determine the area of the rectangle

A = l * w

A = (7\ ft - 3\ ft) * (5\ ft - 2\ ft)

A = (4\ ft) * (3\ ft)

A = 12\ ft^2

Determine the area of the triangle

A = \frac{b * h}{2}

A = \frac{\frac{7\ ft - 3\ ft}{2} * (5\ ft - 3\ ft)}{2}

A=\frac{2\ ft * 2\ ft}{2}

A = \frac{4\ ft^2}{2}

A = 2\ ft^2

Since there are two right triangles in the triangle that we have we multiply the area that we got by 2 to get the total area.

A_{triangle} = 2\ ft^2*2

A_{triangle} = 4\ ft^2

<u>Step 3:  Determine the total area</u>

A_{total} = 9\ ft^2 + 12\ ft^2 + 4\ ft^2

A_{total} = 25\ ft^2

Answer:  A_{total} = 25\ ft^2

PLEASE HELP
Zinaida [17]

We want to identify different things on the given graph.

The solutions are:

A) (3, -1)

B) x = 4

C) x = y^2 + 2y + 4

D) x ⇒ ∞, y ⇒ ∞

   x⇒3, y⇒ -1

A) The first thing we want to identify is the vertex, we could say that a vertex is a point of symmetry. (like the minimum/maximum of a parabola). Here we clearly do not have a point of symmetry, as we only have half of a parabola, but if it was a complete one, the vertex would be at the blue point, in (3, -1)

B) This is the point where the graph intercepts the x-axis, x = 4.

C) we want to write the equation, we start with the general parabola, this time as a function of y:

x = a*y^2 + b*y + c

Remember that the x-itercept is at x = 4. then c = 4.

x = a*y^2 + b*y + 4

The y-value of the vertex is -1, while the general y-value of the vertex is:

y = -b/2a = -1

And evaluating the equation in this value, gives us:

x = a*(-1)^2 + b*-1 + 4 = 3

Then we have two equations:

-b/2a = -1

a + -b + 4 = 3

We can rewrite the first one as:

-b = -2a

b = 2a

Now we can replace this on the other equation:

a - 2a + 4  =3

-a + 4 = 3

-a = 3 - 4 = -1

a = 1

And b = 2a = 2*1 = 2

Then the equation of the parabola is:

x = y^2 + 2y + 4

D) We can see that as x grows, y increases, so we can say that:

x ⇒ ∞, y ⇒ ∞

And for the other limit we can see that as x tends to 3, y tends to -1, then:

x⇒3, y⇒ -1
