Modernism is a cultural movement that triggered important transformations in the Western societies and in the United States started at the turn of the 20 century, having its most intense period in between World War I and II. This movement was fostered by the industrial nature of socities and the rapid urbanization processes.

Therefore, when chosing from the events listed above, it can be claimed that the Start of the Prohibition in 1919 took place within the modernist period. This Prohibition meant that the production, importation, transportation, and sale of alcoholic drinks was forbidden by a constitutional law.
