Slope formula : (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)
(2,-2)....x1 = 2 and y1 = -2
(4,1)...x2 = 4 and y2 = 1
now we sub into the slope formula and solve for the slope
slope = (1 - (-2) / (4 - 2) = (1 + 2) / 2 = 3/2

now we use y = mx + b
slope(m) = 3/2
use either of ur points....(4,1)...x = 4 and y = 1
now sub into y = mx + b formula and find b, the y int
1 = 3/2(4) + b
1 = 6 + b
1 - 6 = b
-5 = b

so ur equation is : y = 3/2x - 5 <==

Slope=-2-1/2-4 (m)
=-3/-2
=3/2x
Equation of a line; y=mx+b
1=3/2(4)+b
1=6+b
Subtract 6 from both sides
-5=b (value of y-intercept)
y=3/2x+(-5)

What is the rate on an investment that doubles $5051 in 9 years? Assume interest is compounded quarterly.
Inessa [10]

Answer:

The rate at which the investment gets double is 7.776

Step-by-step explanation:

Given as :

The principal investment = $ 5051

The time period of investment = 9 years

Let The rate of interest = R % compounded quarterly

The Amount gets double

So,  <u>From Compounded method</u>

Amount = Principal ×(1+\dfrac{rate}{4\times 100})^{4\times Time}

Or, 2 × P = P  × ( 1 + \dfrac{\textrm R}{400})^{\textrm 36}

Or, 2 =  ( 1 + \dfrac{\textrm R}{400})^{\textrm 36}

Or, 2^{\frac{1}{36}} = 1 + \dfrac{\textrm R}{400}

or, 1.01944 - 1 =  \dfrac{\textrm R}{400}

or, 0.01944 =  \dfrac{\textrm R}{400}

∴ R = 0.01944 × 400 = 7.776

Hence The rate at which the investment gets double is 7.776   Answer

Is this a function or no??
Mariana [72]

Answer:

No, it is not.

Explanation:

One <em>x </em>value (-3) has more than one corresponding <em>y </em>value (1 and 0). In a proper function, each <em>x </em>value has one and only one corresponding <em>y </em>value.
