Clastic sedimentary rocks are made up of small pieces known as clasts of pre existing rocks. These pieces of rocks are loosened by weathering process and then moved to some basin or depression where sediment is placed. If the sediment is buried deeply under ground, it becomes hard, compacted and cemented which results in the formation of sedimentary rock.
