The civil war in America generated several changes in politics and the entire society. This created the opening for regionalism and realism. With the purpose in bringing the characters and an environment for readers to become fully involved in the stories of Mark Twain in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Kate Chopin in The Awakening developed regionalism while Henry James depicted real life in real time using realism in the story of Daisy Miller called A Study.
