I would say the correct answer is B. Vacate means to leave (a place that one previously occupied).

Survival means the state or fact of continuing to live or exist, typically in spite of an accident, ordeal, or difficult circumstances. Or <span>an object or practice that has continued to exist from an earlier time.

What is sovereignty? Why would sovereignty be a concern for the people of Hawaii? in 1884
mamaluj [8]

"Sovereignty" means control over one's own nation or territory.

Hawaii was concerned with sovereignty in 1884 because in that year the Kingdom of Hawaii was signing a treaty that gave the United States "the exclusive right to enter the harbor of the Pearl River in the Island of Oahu" (in other words, Pearl Harbor), "and to establish and maintain there a coaling and repair station for the use of vessels of the United States, and to that end the United States may improve the entrance to said harbor and do all other things needful to the purpose aforesaid."    (You can tell I'm quoting from the actual treaty there.)

When the treaty was reaffirmed and extended in 1887, King Kalaukaua of Hawaii said to the Hawaiian legislature that his government had assurances from the US government that the treaty did "not cede any territory or part with or impair any right of sovereignty or jurisdiction on the part of the Hawaiian Kingdom."

Ultimately, however, in an age when imperialism was common throughout the world, the United States did take over control of Hawaii.  In the late 1800s, the US supported American sugar planters who overthrew the Hawaiian monarchy, and by 1900 Hawaii became a US territory.

Was Columbus really a conqueror? was he the bad guy? explain your reasoning 5 sentences
Degger [83]

Answer:

1.Christopher Columbus was a fraud.2. He was indeed a brave and prolific explorer.  3.but he also was a brutal evil man who never even made it to the place that is now the United States.4. We all believe that Columbus is a villain than a hero.

5.First of all, according to Wikipedia, A hero (masculine) or heroine (feminine) is a person or main character of a literary work who, in the face of danger, combats adversity through feats of ingenuity, bravery or strength, often sacrificing their own personal concerns for a greater good. However, based on what we have learned about Christopher Columbus, what he did has nothing to do with the definition of hero. His motivation to take the travel was to arrive in India, a country in east Asia, to obtain gold. From this perspective, his motivation was not noble. In addition, he did not arrive in India.

Secondly, he set a bad example to colonists came later. According to the article “Christopher Columbus: Hero or Murderer?” by Whitney DeWitt, it is said that “Columbus’s arrogance and exploitation regarding slavery began on his second voyage. Ferdinand and Isabella had ordered that the natives be treated kindly. In opposition to this order, Columbus began exporting slaves in great numbers in 1494.” His way to treat the native residents was improper and rude, which is bad model to colonists who came later. A hero is supposed to be a decent man who get rid of bad reputation. Columbus’ behavior did not conform to the standard.

Because of the reasons given above, it will be hard to classify Christopher Columbus as a hero. His motivation to come to American continent was not noble. He set a bad example to colonists who came later. In addition, his arrival caused a catastrophe to local residents. Therefore, he is more like a villain than a hero.

Thomas Paine suggested in Common Sense that Britain could not rule the American colonies well because?
Leona [35]

Answer:

(B) America was too large and too far away.

Explanation:

Thomas Paine argued in “Common Sense” in favor of American Independence. The pain had many arguments to defend American independence, first he said that it was absurd for an island to rule a continent, he envisioned that the US would grow and defended that independence should be sought during the moment that the colonies were small.

He also argued that Britain was very distant from America and this made the governing of the colonies very hard. Any petition to the Parliament would take a year to the colonies receive a response, this made governing impossible.
