A character is the answer my guy
“I am out here in the void
not my bones

True.
Risk's include that of the parents, environment, and even the child itself. Parental factors include things such as the follow: unwanted pregnancy, parents abused when younger, low education and/or motivation, unrealistic expectations of an infant or toddler, isolated with few supports, mental illness, drug or alcohol abuse. Environmental factors could be overcrowding which leads to neglect, poverty or lack of opportunity, family violence, non biological adult in living space, and experiencing multiple stresses. The child's own factors could be that he/she is sickly, colicky, or unwanted, child has a mental or physical disability, the child is the product of an abusive or toxic relationship, or even the lack of a bond between the child and the parent. (But in my own opinion, the child never has a factor. It's a baby and it has done nothing wrong. It's the parent's dumb fault for having a kid when it can be easily avoided.)
