The right answer is B. folding

The translation of the genetic information is done in two stages: one translates the sequence of the bases of the gene into amino acid sequence of the protein is the primary structure; the second translates this sequence into a complex, precisely defined three-dimensional structure, the only one able to confer on the protein its biological activity.

The second stage, or "protein folding", is at present one of the central problems of biological research.

Earth's early atmosphere was primarily composed of
Paul [167]

Answer:

The correct answer is ''carbon dioxide, water vapor and nitrogen.''

Explanation:

About 4.5 billion years ago, Earth was a very geologically active planet. So many volcanic fumes formed the primitive atmosphere, which was mostly made up of water vapor, carbon dioxide, sulfur, and nitrogen. At this point, oxygen was barely present and the oceans did not yet exist. The primitive atmosphere is the one before the Precambrian, it was reductive, that is, it lacked free oxygen, and only had ammonia, methane and hydrogen, the high temperature of the atmosphere in its early stages facilitated the reaction of these gases to form organic compounds from which life may have emerged. UV rays passed, because ozone did not exist.

The majority of water reabsorption from the filtrate occurs in the _____ ____ ______.
const2013 [10]

The majority of water reabsorption from the filtrate occurs in the proximal convoluted tubule (PCT).

Further Explanation:

The nephron is the functional unit of the kidney which plays key role in the removal of waste product from the body. Nephron consists of glomerulus and convoluted tubules.

Parts of the nephron:

1. Proximal convoluted tubule (PCT): It is the first part of nephron which is closer to the glomerulus. It consists of microvilli and various carrier protein which increases its surface area for reabsorption. This part is responsible for the reabsorption of sodium chloride, glucose, water, amino acid, bicarbonate etc.

2. Henle loop: This is present after PCT. As it forms loop like structure therefore it is named so. It consist of ascending loop and descending loop. This part is responsible for the reabsorption of water, sodium and chloride.

3. Distal convoluted tubule: It is the last part of the nephron which empties its filtrate into the collecting duct. This part is responsible for the reabsorption sodium and chloride.

7. What type of stresses have the rocks undergone to form the structures in Figure 11-1?
alisha [4.7K]
7. Stress is the force applied to a rock, which may cause deformation of the rock. There are three major types of stress and go along with the three types of plate boundaries; Compression stress is common at convergent boundaries, tension stress at divergent boundaries, and the shear stress at transform boundaries. In this case the rocks have undergone tensional stresses.

8. Horst is a raised fault block bounded by normal faults. A horst is a raised block of the Earth's crust that has lifted, or has remained stationary, while the land on either side (garben) has subsided. Therefore the structure labeled A in the diagram is Horst.

9. A Graben; it is a valley with a distinct escarpment on each side caused by the displacement of a block downward. It often occurs side by side with the horsts. Horst and Graben structures indicate tensional forces and crustal stretching. Therefore, the structure labeled B is Graben.
