Which is the most effective paraphrase of this excerpt? When Odysseus and his men arrived on the island of Cicones, they enslave
sammy [17]

This question makes reference to the following excerpt:

Plunder we took, and we enslaved the women,

to make division, equal shares to all—

but on the spot I told them: 'Back, and quickly!

Out to sea again!' My men were mutinous,

fools, on stores of wine. Sheep after sheep they

butchered by the surf, and shambling cattle,

feasting,—while fugitives went inland, running

to call to arms the main force of Cicones.

The most effective paraphrase for this excerpt is option D: The men continued their acts of greed despite Odysseus's commands to stop and return to the ship, and the fugitives of Cicones ran inland to fetch help.

"The Odyssey" is Homer's epic poem about the struggle that the Greek hero Odysseus suffered to return home after the Trojan War. Odysseus is the hero of the Odyssey and the king of Ithaca. He is strong, courageous and incredibly intelligent.

inna [77]

Answer:

The tone of lines 44-49 is desolate.

Explanation:

The desolate attitude of the poet is demonstrated with words like: fearing, mourning and joyless.

This great sadness is caused by the death of his men at the hands of Grendel in Herot and he expresses this act with his words "hate had triumphed", putting Grendel as someone full of hatred who murdered several men.
