It could be said that many people believed that slavery was a natural state for black people. They were not capable of being part of the society that is why, they were not taught how to read or write. They live like animals because of the way they are forced to. He was separated from his mother so he did not develop a familiar feeling, child slaves were destroyed in connection to feelings and emotions.
