Characters operate within the constraints of their circumstances. Two characters that may otherwise be friends may be turned against each other by mutually exclusive objectives or hostile circumstances. For example, Mercutio and Thibeault in "Romeo and Juliet" display similar values and would perhaps have gotten along, were they not allied with warring families.

George and Lenny in Of Mice and Men also display an interesting relationship. They are very different, but in need of one another in unique ways. They are both in difficult economic circumstances, and have disproportionate advantages (George's intellect, Lenny's strength).

The circumstances characters are in dictates, to an extent, the relationship between characters, because it dictates whether the characters offer an facilitation or obstacle to one another's objectives. Even within a play, a change in the situation and thus the calculus of the characters can change the dynamic between them.

Which of these rhyming lines appear right next to each other in the poem, Sonnet 73
Serga [27]

Answer:

Shakespeare's sonnet 73 is a formally typical example of a Shakespearean sonnet, despite being a poetically outstanding one. The rhyme scheme is abab cdcd efef gg, the usual four quatrains followed by a rhyming couplet, making fourteen lines in all. The meter is iambic pentameter.

The rhymes of this sonnet are fairly simple, single-syllable rhymes. The first rhyme, "behold" and "the cold" in lines one and three could potentially be read as a two-syllable feminine rhyme, but most readers would find that this throws an unnatural emphasis on the word "the," and avoid such a reading. The rhymes are all full rhymes in both Elizabethan and modern English, and their simplicity adds to the force of this powerful poem.

The iambic pentameter is smooth and regular, with no variation in the ten-syllable pattern. The only slight irregularity is the scansion of line eleven:

As the deathbed whereon it must expire...

If one scans this as a perfect iambic line, the word "deathbed" sounds unnatural, with the...

What is a music parameter? Name and describe the three categories of parameters
Cerrena [4.2K]
A musical parameter is a measurement tool that allows us to evaluate the various components of music. The parameters will vary based on the purpose, context or direction of the music and its composer undo composition. the three most common musical parameters used are the rhythm, the Tempo, and the key signature of the music. The tempo refers to the speed of the music, whether the music is upbeat, like a dance song, or slow, like a love song. The rhythm of the music, which depends on the tempo, will be the pace and pattern of the beat and the organizational pattern of the notes and repetition. The key signature of a music is whether the notes of the music are centered around a A, B, C or D note, and whether that note is flat or sharp.
