Basically, a positive hundreds-place multiplication is going to move your decimal to the right by 2 places.

When you multiply the two together (which you can do in a calculator), you get an answer of 68.5. Again, this comes from moving the decimal in 0.685 two places to the right to receive your final answer.

I hope I was able to help. Best of luck.

Rob peeled 125 oranges in 5 hours. At that rate, how many oranges<br> would he peel in 12 minutes?
marin [14]

Answer:

\boxed {\tt 5 \ oranges}

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's set up a proportion.

\frac{oranges}{minutes} =\frac{oranges}{minutes}

He can peel 125 oranges in 5 hours. First, let's find the minutes in 5 hours.

There are 60 minutes in 1 hour, so multiply 60 and 5 (60*5=300). There are 300 minutes in 5 hours.

\frac{125 \ oranges}{300 \ minutes}=\frac{oranges}{minutes}

We don't know how many oranges he can peel in 12 minutes. So we say he can peel x oranges in 12 minutes.

\frac{125 \ oranges}{300 \ minutes}=\frac{x \ oranges}{12 \ minutes}

\frac{125 \ }{300 \ }=\frac{x \ }{12 }

Solve for x by isolating it. x is being divided by 12. The inverse of division is multiplication. Multiply both sides of the proportion by 12.

12*\frac{125 \ }{300 \ }=\frac{x \ }{12 \ }*12

12*\frac{125 \ }{300 \ }=x

12*0.416666667=x

5=x

Rob can peel 5 oranges in 12 minutes.

Is the expression x³·x³·x³ equivalent to x³·³·³? why or why not? explain your reasoning
Lemur [1.5K]

Answer:

<u>Definitely not equivalent. </u>

Exponent rules state that whenever you multiply terms with the same power, you add the powers together and multiply the coefficients.

x^3*3*3 is equivalent to something like ((x^3)^3)^3 or x^27

x^3 * x^3 * x^3 would be x^3+3+3 or x^9

Basically find the eqatuions of the lines that produce the shaded reigon

so find the lines first
we notice taht they must be inequalities
the upward line is dotted so it  must have > or <
ok, hum the slope seems to be -3
the y intercept is 1 so the euaiton is y_-3x+1
the blank is the inequality
ok, test a point
(0,0) is in it
0_-3(0)+1
0_1
0<1
so it is y<-3x+1

secondn line
solid line so ≤ or ≥
slope of 2
y intercept of -1
y_2x-1
(0,0) is a possible solution
test it
0_2(0)-1
0_-1
0≥-1

so the equations are
y<-3x+1 and y≥2x-1

a. the system is y<-3x+1 and y≥2x-1

b. a solution is (0,0) because it is in the shades reigon which is the intersection of the 2 inequalities
