The very first step in determining the meaning of unfamiliar or unknown vocabulary is to distinguish or identify unfamiliar words. Secondly, we must determine which tool we will use to decode or find out the meaning of each word, such as context clues, syntax, the word structure (that is, the meaning of each morpheme of the word) or the dictionary, and lastly, we must determine its meaning.
