I was wondering if anyone could explain how to solve this?
vfiekz [6]
(a+b)² can also be written as (a+b) (a+b). When you expand this you get a²+2ab+b²

(a-b)² can also be written as (a-b) (a-b). When expanded this gives a²-2ab-b2

As you can see, this leads to different coefficients of the 'ab' values: for (a+B) ² its 2 for (a-b) ² its - 2

How to complex fractions
I am Lyosha [343]
To do complex fractions, do whats on the bottom and top and then divide the bottom and top fractions and you should get your answer. For example in a equation like 1/2 + 1/2/ 1/4 + 1/4, you would have to solve the equations in the denominator and numerator. So 1/2 + 1/2 is equal to a whole, or 1. So now that we've solved the numerator's equation, the problem is now, 1/1/4 + 1/4. Now I solve for the denominator. 1/4 + 1/4 is equal to 2/4. So now my equation is 1/2/4. Finally I divide 1 by 2/4, which will give me 2. Hope this helps you.
