Tone is the author's attitude towards the texts that leads the reader to the mood, or how you are feeling when reading the text.  These can often be the same.  Look up a Tone Word Bank.  Reading this, there is a definitely a tone of contemplative (as she considers what to do and how she is growing up).  You could also say questioning and serious as well.  The theme is the lesson or the moral, so you would answer this with growing up can be hard on anyone.  One questions what is fair and important as they learn to go up.  In other words, the speaker is saying that it seems like yesterday she was young and carefree.  Now, she must make big decisions.
