Well Britain and France took massive loans from the United States for war supplies. Also the fighting was taking place on French soil which destroyed all the farms and all the farms were fighting the Germans which meant that American farms where needed to grow more crops faster which meant they took out loans and used them to buy tractors to help feed the French and little bit to Britain and also Belgium.
I would say that the deciding factor was that he made the "right" alliances - for example he was on friendly terms with Nazi Germany, which saved Spain from being invaded by Nazi Germany and also within Spain, he made some associations with some groups that helped him maintain his power.
