Pick the words that correctly complete the sentence. Natasha had _____ for half an hour before her friend arrived. been waiting
erastovalidia [21]

Answer:

Natasha had been waiting for half an hour before her friend arrived.

Explanation:

The tense we are looking for here is the past perfect continuous. It shows that an action that started in the past continued up until another moment or action in the past. In this particular sentence, we have two actions: Natasha waiting, followed by her friend arriving. As both actions took place in the past, one before the other, we have to use the combination of the past perfect (in this case continuous) and past (simple) tense.

Construction of the past perfect continuous tense: had been + the verb's present participle (root + -ing).

What do you know about the Ku Klux Klan? Do you think they--and other groups like them--should have the right to exist in the US
Mkey [24]

Answer:

Yes and no

Explanation: The KKK has been the centre of white supremacy for many years, thus making it extremely unpopular for people around the world, in particularly the black ethnic minorities in the United States. People could also argue that they have made it to exercise their right and their human rights to freedom of speech. But that makes the human wonder, are they doing it in the right way? So there can be a divide in what people think about the KKK. If a person thinks that they have the right to do what they did because it is freedom of speech, someone might say back that they have done this in a completely wrong way and have neglected and have "bent the rules" on what the KKK can and cannot do in terms of what people again have their opinions on this specific topic. In my opinion, i think that the KKK shouldn't really have the right to exist in the US as they have caused eruptions of violence over the past few decades causing a cascade of disruption and controversy. Though they are extremely involved in the whole topic of white supremacy, i think the KKK lures in vulnerable people, brainwashing them into thinking that a person with a different colour skin to them is inferior to them, also going against their Christian values. Take for example Daryl Davis, a black man who managed to get multiple people to leave the KKK, not by using violence and threatening them, but by understanding them, having talks with them and eventually showing them the true side of black people, caring compassionate people.

Many thanks for asking this,

How the children respond to the phrase
garri49 [273]

Answer:

I believe it's B and or C

Explanation:

Horribly is a negative adverb, but added to modify the adjective, good, it creates a sense of negativity and positivity.

“Horribly” means that the girl was shockingly good, and this surprising meaning catches the children’s attention.

“Horribly” emphasizes the girl’s goodness, but it is normally a negative definition that implies that there is something awful about being so good.
