Answer:The relationship between these two countries were very strained.  This was because the United States was a capitalistic country while China was a communistic country.  During the Nixon presidency, though, the relationship grew more friendly.  This was because Nixon thought that by becoming friendly with China could drive a wedge between China and the Soviet Union.  Plz mark brainliest.

During the presidency of Richard Nixon, the United States acknowledged the Communist government of the "People's Republic of China". He was the "37th President of United States" and served his country for five years (from "1969 to 1974").  

In 1972, Nixon visited the China to lead the diplomatic relationship between "United States and China". He gave ordered to create Environmental Protection Agency. He is the only president in the American Presidency history who resigned from his post.
