During the Medieval era (500 - 1500 AD), the main form of entertainment for lords and ladies was holding of banquets at their castles. Together with invited guests of high nobility, the lords and ladies sat at the high table and ate rich food and wine served by squires while being entertained by court jesters who would try make the guests laugh and  minstrels who would play music as requested. Outdoor entertainment involved jousts and hunting, mostly for the gentlemen.  Indoor board games such as chess were  common while the ladies would enjoy sewing and making fine embroidery. Dancing and singing were also commonplace.

Things really took off during the Elizabethan period from 1558 to 1603. It was  an age in which there was quite a desire to acquire some social polish, therefore grand balls and parties were the order of the day. This was further enhanced by the explosive growth of printing . Invitations to these social events was by card, which really added to their prestige. Lords and ladies would compete to host the grandest, most spectacular balls, making sure the high and mighty in society were invited such as the king and queen, so that they would be the talk of the town for as long as possible.

What best describes the bromide ion that forms?
elixir [45]

Answer:

It is a negative ion that has one more valence electron than a neutral bromine atom.

Explanation:

The bromine atom (Br) accepts one electron and forms the bromide ion (Br-), which carries a unit negative charge. Thus, the charge of the bromide ion is -1.

Bromine is corrosive to human tissue in a liquid state and its vapors irritate eyes and throat. Bromine vapors are very toxic with inhalation. Humans can absorb organic bromines through the skin, with food and during breathing. Organic bromines are widely used as sprays to kill insects and other unwanted pests.

Its salts are found in the crust at about . 4 parts per million. Bromine is only the 64th most common element on Earth. It is more rare than three quarters of the elements that comprise the Earth's crust

bromine is commonly found in highly un-reactive bromide salts - in much the same way that the poisonous green gas chlorine is commonly found in boring sodium chloride, table salt. ... Today, bromine is extracted on an industrial scale from salt lakes that are especially rich in the element, above all the Dead Sea

mariarad [96]

Answer:

1A   One way that Athens and Sparta really differed was in their idea of getting along with the rest of the Greeks. Sparta seemed content to keep to itself and provide army and assistance when necessary. Athens, on the other hand, wanted to control more and more of the land around them. This eventually led to war between all the Greeks.

Explanation:

1B    Sparta was ruled by two kings, who ruled until they died or were forced out of office. Athens was ruled by archons, who were elected annually. Thus, because both parts of Athens' government had leaders who were elected, Athens is said to haveThe two rivals of ancient Greece that made the most noise and gave us the most traditions were Athens and Sparta. They were close together on a map, yet far apart in what they valued and how they lived their lives.

2  Athenian life was a creative wonderland. As an Athenian, you could get a good education and could pursue any of several kinds of arts or sciences. You could serve in the army or navy, but you didn't have to. (This applied only to boys, however: Girls were restricted to other pursuits, not war or business or education.

"How did the United States help bring about the Allied victory in 1918?" (NOT BATTLES, but how did the U.S. help bring about the
Oksana_A [137]

Answer:

There wasn't a victory.the Europeans exhausted themselves. The US only prolonged the conflict for about a year, at which time the Europeans thought that an armistice was the only way to not perish. The real victory came in 1919, when President Wilson went to Versailles to hold court and chop up the map of the world in the image of a racist, imperialist, white, Western European/American hegemony, complete with “reparations” that assured the flow of gold primarily out of Germany, and primarily into the US. Wilson was able to hold the dominant position at Versailles because the US was one nation that was not utterly spent, in terms of men and material and resources.
