The Marshall Plan was a post-WWII initiative from the United States to help rebuild Europe. The U.S. gave over $13 billion in support through the program, which lasted from 1948 to 1951. Europe saw the fastest growth in it's history during this 4 year period, and most of Europe was able to recover from the war to the fullest capacity.

The US Policy of Containment was a policy put forth during the Cold War to limit the influence of communism around the globe by attempting to prevent the spread of communism from Russia to other countries around the world. Hope that helps :)
