Different plant species require different amounts of direct sunlight in order to flower. A student designed an experiment to det
Gnoma [55]

Answer:

Independent variable: LENGTH OF EXPOSURE TO DIRECT SUNLIGHT

Dependent variable: PRODUCTION OF FLOWERS

Control group: THE GROUP OF PLANT THAT WASN'T EXPOSED TO SUNLIGHT i.e. 0 hours

Experimental group: THE GROUP OF PLANTS THAT WERE EXPOSED TO SUNLIGHT

Constant: THE SAME PLANT SPECIES

Explanation:

Independent variable is the variable that the experimenter changes or manipulates in an experiment. In this experiment, the experimenter exposes the specific plant species to sunlight at different length of time, hence, the LENGTH OF EXPOSURE TO DIRECT SUNLIGHT is the independent variable.

Dependent variable is the variable which is measured in an experiment. In this experiment, the measured/dependent variable is the PRODUCTION RATE OF FLOWERS by the plant species.

Control group is the group in an experiment that does not receive the variable being tested. In this experience, the control group is THE GROUP OF PLANT THAT WASN'T EXPOSED TO SUNLIGHT i.e. 0 hours

Experimental group is the group of am experiment that is exposed to the experimental treatment (sunlight). In this case, the experimental group is THE GROUP OF PLANTS THAT WERE EXPOSED TO SUNLIGHT.

Constants are variables of an experiment that must be kept unchanged for all groups throughout the experiment in order not to affect the experiment's outcome. In this experiment, the constant is THE SAME PLANT SPECIES used,

Eduardwww [97]

DNA plays a major role in heredity, composing the genes that are passed down from parent to offspring. It also plays a major role in the everyday workings of your cells. It does this by creating molecules, such as enzymes, that regulate cell functions. These enzymes belong to a larger class of molecules known as Proteins.

  • DNA is important in terms of heredity. It packs in all the genetic information and passes it on to the next generation. The basis for this lies in the fact that DNA makes genes and genes make chromosomes. Humans have 23 pairs of chromosomes – a total of 46 chromosomes.
  • Information that is stored in DNA molecules is used to manufacture proteins through the process of transcription and translation.
  • During transcription, DNA molecules are used to generate mRNA (messenger RNA), which then undergoes translation in the cytoplasm to generate proteins. These proteins include enzymes that control or regulate and catalyze different biological reactions in the body.
  • Additionally, one of the characteristic of protein is being protein in nature which means like proteins they are produced through translation in the ribosomes.

Punnett squares use mathematical probability to help predict the genotype and phenotype combinations in genetic crosses. Select
castortr0y [4]

Answer:

A. All possible combinations of alleles in the gametes produced by one parent are written along the top edge of the square

Explanation:

You begin with a square. Then, following the principle of segregation, all possible combinations of alleles in the gametes produced by one parent are written along the top edge of the square. The other parent's alleles are then segregated along the left edge. Next, every possible genotype is written into the boxes within the square, just as they might appear in the F2 generation.

YY is the genotype of a pure breed purple flowered pea plant

Yy is the genotype of a heterozygous pea plant flower (purple is dominant over white)

yy is the genotype of a white flowered pea plant that is generally called as recessive

In fruit flies, straight wings are dominant and curly wings are recessive. What will the generations look like? Assume that Mend
Hunter-Best [27]

Answer: There will be one homozygous straight wing, two heterozygous straight wings, and one homozygous curly wing.

Explanation: A true breeding pair means that both parents are heterozygous (Ww). Set up a Punnett square with two Ww parents. The offspring will be 1 WW (homozygous straight), 2 Ww (heterozygous straight), and 1 ww (homozygous curly).
