Answer:

3x + 7y = −17

4x − 7y = 10

Add up both sides of 2 equations, then

7x = -7

=> x = 1

=> y =(3 x 1 - 17)/7 = -14/7 = -2

Hope this helps!

1/2 ( x - 4 ) = 1/3 ( x + 2)<br><br> pls help me
Eddi Din [679]

Answer:

x=16

Step-by-step explanation:

1/2 ( x - 4 ) = 1/3 ( x + 2)

distribute both sides

1 /2 (x−4)= 1/ 3 (x+2)

( 1 /2 )(x) + ( 1/ 2 )(−4) =( 1 /3 ) (x)+( 1/3 )(2)(Distribute)

1 /2 x+−2= 1 /3 x+ 2 /3

1 /2 x+−2= 1 /3 x+ 2 /3

Step 2: Subtract 1/3x from both sides.

1/2x -2 -1/3 x

x= 1 /3 x + 2/3  − 1/ 3 x

1 /6  x−2= 2/ 3

Step 3: Add 2 to both sides.

1 /6 x −2+2= 2/ 3  +2

1 /6 x = 8 /3

Step 4: Multiply both sides by 6.

6*( 1/6 x) =6*( 8 /3 )

x=16

if the hieght and radius of the cone is tripled then find the ratio of Volume of the new cone and of that of original

\bf \textit{volume of a cone}\\\\&#10;V=\cfrac{\pi r^2 h}{3}\quad &#10;\begin{cases}&#10;r=radius\\&#10;h=height\\&#10;-----\\&#10;r=\stackrel{3\times r}{3r}\\&#10;h=\stackrel{3\times h}{3h}&#10;\end{cases}\implies V=\cfrac{\pi (3r)^2(3h)}{3}&#10;\\\\\\&#10;V=\cfrac{\pi (3^2r^2)(3h)}{3}\implies V=\cfrac{\pi (9r^2)(3h)}{3}\implies V=27\left( \cfrac{\pi r^2 h}{3} \right)

notice the original, and the new one, with the tripled "r" and "h" is just, whatever the original was times 27, namely 27 times as large as the original.
