Answer:

a. 18 ft

b 12 ft

c 44 inches

Step-by-step explanation:

We can use proportions to solve part a.  Put the inches on the diagram on top and the feet in real life on the bottom

4 inches       24 inches

----------------   = --------------

  3 ft                   x ft

Using cross products

4x = 3 *24

Divide each side by 4

4x/4 = 3* 24/4

x = 3 * 6

x = 18 ft

We can use proportions to solve part b.  Put the inches on the diagram on top and the feet in real life on the bottom

b)  4 inches       16 inches

----------------   = --------------

  3 ft                   x ft

Using cross products

4x = 3 *16

Divide each side by 4

4x/4 = 3* 16/4

x = 3 * 4

x = 12 ft

We can use proportions to solve part c.  Put the inches on the diagram on top and the feet in real life on the bottom

b)  4 inches       y inches

----------------   = --------------

  3 ft                   33 ft

Using cross products

4*33 = 3 *y

Divide each side by 3

4*33/3 = 3* y/3

4*11 =y

44 =y

44 inches =y

A certain kite has exactly one acute angle, and it measures 16 degrees. What is the maximum whole-number measure of the angle op
kvv77 [185]

Answer:

In order to do so, we need to use basic algebra. The angles in a kite add up to 360 degrees. so we form the following equation.

x + y + y + 16 = 360

x + y + y = 344 <----(360 -16)

Each letter or variable represents an angle measure. the measures of the three angles left. The 16 degrees is on the bottom of the kite and the angle opposite is the top angle. the two side angles will be the same measure that's why they are both y.

x + 2y = 344

The two side angles will be 90 or greater because there is only 1 acute angle. 90 is the smallest number that can be chosen. so we do the following.

Step-by-step explanation:

x + 2(90) = 344

x + 180 = 344

x = 344-180

x = 164

THE MAXIMUM WHOLE NUMBER MEASURE OF THE ANGLE OPPOSITE OF THE 16 DEGREE ACUTE ANGLE IS 164 DEGREES*

Question:

In a neighbourhood pet show, each of the animals entered is equally likely to win. if there are 7 dogs, 6 cats, 3 birds, and 2 gerbils entered, what is the probability that a bird will win the top prize?

Answer:

Probability that a bird will win the top prize is 0.167

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

The number of  dogs  = 7

The number of  cats = 6

The number of  birds  = 3

The number of gerbils = 2

To Find:

Probability that a bird will win the top prize = ?

Solution:

Let us first find the total number of  pets .

The Total number of pets = 7 + 6 + 3  + 2 =  18

Now the probability of  a bird will win the top prize is

=> \frac{\text {Number of birds}}{\text{ Total number of pets}}

=>\frac{3}{18}

=> \frac{1}{6}

=>0.167
